Practical Competition for Public Officials Directly Linked to Property Rights
Haeundae-gu Wins Top Prize, University Division Introduced This Year
An intriguing competition to measure land boundaries, directly connected to citizens' property rights, was held in Busan for public officials and university students.
The Busan Metropolitan Government announced on the 3rd that it hosted the "2026 Busan City Cadastral Survey Competition," a practical contest testing land survey accuracy and on-site response skills, at the Human Resources Development Institute on April 30.
Sixteen district and county public officials responsible for cadastral survey performance inspections participated in the competition. Each team, representing their respective district or county, was evaluated on speed and accuracy as they calculated survey results within a set timeframe.

View original imageThis year, a university division was newly established in an effort to nurture future surveying talent in the field. The city plans to expand participation to include high school students starting next year.
In the public officials division, Haeundae-gu won the grand prize, while Gijang-gun and Buk-gu were recognized for excellence. In the university division, Sung Jooyoung of Kyungnam College of Information & Technology received the top prize, while Kim Hyojin from Pukyong National University and Cha Sangdoo from Kyungnam College of Information & Technology were awarded for excellence.
As the grand prize winner, Haeundae-gu will represent Busan in the "2026 National Cadastral and Drone Survey Competition" hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to be held in North Jeolla Province this September.
Baek Myunggi, Director of the Urban Planning Bureau at the Busan Metropolitan Government, said, "Cadastral surveying is a core responsibility directly tied to protecting citizens' property rights," adding, "This event aimed to enhance the capabilities of public officials and offer university students valuable practical experience."

The Busan Metropolitan Government plans to further expand exchanges among academia, industry, and government to continue improving the quality of cadastral administration services and foster future talent.
