Sangil Lee, the People Power Party candidate for Mayor of Yongin Special City, has announced his "Jukjeon Leap Forward" campaign pledge, which focuses on dramatically improving transportation conditions and redeveloping aging residential areas in the Jukjeon-dong area of Suji-gu, thereby enhancing the overall value of the region.

This rail line would directly connect Dankook University's main campus to the railway network and pass through Dongcheon, Jukjeon, Mabuk, and Eonnam-dong. Lee emphasized, "According to the preliminary feasibility study conducted by the city, the benefit-cost (B/C) ratio for the Dongcheon-Eonnam Line is very high at 1.23, provided that the Dongbaek-Sinbong Line is also established," adding, "Since the economic feasibility has been confirmed, I will make every effort to ensure the project's success."
The plan to expand the road network has also been detailed. Lee referred to the recently KDI-approved private investment feasibility study for the Yongin-Seongnam Expressway (15.4 km), stating, "If Jukjeon-dong residents use Daeji Pass to access this expressway, travel time toward Pangyo or Seoul's Gangnam area will be significantly reduced." He specifically expressed his aspiration to usher in an era where the journey from Jukjeon to Pangyo takes just over six minutes.
Lee also made pledges regarding the improvement of the residential environment and public safety. Based on the "Master Plan for Redevelopment of Aging Planned Cities" established during his previous term as mayor (the 8th popularly elected mayor), he promised to create a comprehensive redevelopment master plan for the entire Jukjeon Residential District if elected mayor for a ninth term.
In addition, Lee highlighted his achievement of extending the operation of six bus routes connected to GTX Guseong Station until 1:10 a.m. to ensure safer late-night journeys for residents. He pledged to continue making various efforts to eliminate late-night transportation blind spots and to create a safer pedestrian environment.

Lee noted, "There are only two specialized high schools in Yongin, which limits students' career options," and added, "We will actively pursue the establishment of an AI-Art Convergence High School together with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, and also seek to designate an English-specialized middle school."
