Democratic Party candidate Woo Hongseop for Wando County has secured the official endorsement of Lee Cheol, Vice Chairman of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council, bringing him significantly closer to building a 'one team' for victory in the main election.
With Provincial Assemblyman Shin Euijoon and County Assemblywoman Heo Gonghee already on board, the addition of Vice Chairman Lee means that four out of the five candidates who participated in the party primary have now united, forming a single, consolidated front.

Vice Chairman Lee stated, "This decision is a responsible choice for the future of Wando," adding, "I will work together with candidate Woo Hongseop to achieve meaningful results and fulfill my responsibilities within the party."
Previously, candidate Woo had signed a policy solidarity agreement with Provincial Assemblyman Shin Euijoon (Chairman of the Agriculture and Fisheries Committee) and County Assemblywoman Heo Gonghee, adopting a joint vision of "Wando as the Capital of Fisheries, Warm Welfare, and a United Wando."
The group has agreed on key priorities, including: ▲Enhancing the competitiveness of the fisheries industry ▲Revitalizing marine tourism ▲Expanding youth employment ▲Promoting welfare policies closely tied to residents' daily lives. With Vice Chairman Lee's recent participation, the synergy between policy cooperation and political unity is expected to increase even further.
However, the fact that candidate Ji Youngbae, who was also in the primary, has ultimately been excluded from the 'one team' remains an issue. Despite ongoing invitations and behind-the-scenes efforts from Woo's camp, Ji's side is reportedly dissatisfied with the primary results and has firmly refused any meetings.
Regarding the consolidation within the party, Woo Hongseop expressed his gratitude, saying, "I am deeply thankful to Vice Chairman Lee Cheol for joining in unity. Building on the spirit of the 'one team' confirmed during the primary, we will demonstrate our united strength and deliver tangible changes so that everyone in Wando can prosper."
He further emphasized, "A strong, ruling party candidate must be elected as county governor to ensure the stable advancement of major local projects, such as the bridge and island connection initiatives. I will lead Wando's remarkable development together with the residents."
With this unification, Woo's campaign will officially announce its transition to the main election mode with the opening ceremony of its election office scheduled for 11 a.m. on May 6.
