Cho Hyun Holds Call with Iranian Foreign Minister: "Our Ships Still in Hormuz... Passage Must Resume"
Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on the afternoon of the 2nd. This was the first call in about three weeks since April 9, and the third since the U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Cho explained that several vessels of various nationalities, including those from Korea, remain anchored in the Strait of Hormuz, and emphasized that safe passage for all ships, including Korean vessels, must be restored.
The call was made at the request of the Iranian side. The foreign ministers of both countries exchanged views on the recent situation in the Middle East. In particular, Minister Araghchi explained Iran's position regarding negotiations with the United States, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
