A German tourist in his 50s died after being bitten by a venomous snake, believed to be a cobra, during a snake show at a hotel in Hurghada, a famous resort city on Egypt's Red Sea coast. It was reported that the snake entered the victim's pants during the performance and bit his leg.
On April 27 (local time), according to reports by The Guardian and other international media, a German tourist died after being bitten by a venomous snake while watching a snake handler show at a hotel in a well-known Egyptian resort.
According to these reports, a 57-year-old man from Bavaria, Germany, referred to as Mr. A, was bitten on the leg by a snake while attending a snake handler performance at a hotel in Hurghada, a resort on Egypt's Red Sea coast, earlier this month. It is reported that Mr. A was on a family vacation with two relatives when the incident occurred. Two snakes, believed to be cobras, were used in the show. The handler conducted an interactive performance, placing snakes around the necks of audience members, and at one point, reportedly allowed a snake to crawl into Mr. A's pants.
However, the snake that entered Mr. A's pants bit his leg. Mr. A immediately showed severe symptoms of poisoning and collapsed. Although he received CPR at the scene and was transported to a hospital, he ultimately died. Police in Bavaria, Germany, stated that Mr. A was from the Unterallgäu region. German police and prosecutors are investigating to determine the exact cause of death and the circumstances of the accident, and they are currently awaiting the results of toxicology tests.
However, it is reported that the local handler has not yet been charged. Some international media outlets reported that German investigators are looking into the incident to clarify the overall circumstances of the death, rather than targeting any specific individual. When French media inquired about the case with Egyptian authorities, it was reported that the Egyptian side responded that they were not yet aware of the incident.
