Jung Wonoh Criticizes Oh Sehoon for Fueling Tax Anxiety and Spreading False Real Estate Claims (Comprehensive)
"Oh Sehoon’s Wasteful Spending of Tax Money Is the Biggest Problem"
Jung Wono, the Democratic Party of Korea’s candidate for Seoul mayor, criticized Oh Sehoon, the People Power Party candidate, for making real estate policy a campaign issue, stating, “Every election, he brings up the issue of taxes to stoke anxiety and fuel real estate conflicts.”

He pointed out that Mayor Oh had previously lifted the land transaction permit system in Gangnam and Songpa last year and then reversed the decision, saying, “By impulsively lifting the land transaction permit system in Seoul and reversing it after just 35 days, he was the one who triggered confusion in the market. Now, shifting that responsibility onto the government is simply inconsistent.”
Regarding Mayor Oh’s repeated questions about Jung’s stance on the long-term ownership special deduction (Jangteokgong) for capital gains tax on housing, Jung maintained his existing position, saying, “The current rights of single-home owners who use their property as their primary residence must be unconditionally protected.”
He further warned, “If he continues to deliberately distort facts and stoke conflict with false agitation by talking about abolishing the deduction, he will not be able to avoid the stern judgment of the citizens. While he couldn’t speak up against the incompetence and recklessness of the Yoon Suk Yeol administration, he is now picking a fight with the effective Lee Jaemyung government.”
Jung continued his criticism of Mayor Oh during an appearance on the KBS current affairs program “Sasageongeon” on the same day. He cited mismanagement of city finances as the biggest problem with Oh’s administration, specifically referencing the Han River Bus and the Mayor’s Garden of Thanks.

If the Cover Park Project is delayed, the final completion could be postponed as well.”
Commenting on recent polls showing a narrowing gap between the two major parties in Seoul, Jung said, “Regardless of current or past support rates, elections in Seoul are always close. The outcome will be decided by a narrow margin.” He added, “The spirit of this election is to elect a capable administrator who can ensure citizens’ daily lives are safe and secure.”
