PPP Confirms Younghwan Kim as North Chungcheong Governor Candidate, Hongkyu Kim as Gangneung Mayor Candidate
"Primaries to Be Prioritized in Busan Buk-gu Gap and Daegu Dalseong Gap By-elections"
The People Power Party has confirmed incumbent governor Kim Younghwan as its candidate for the Chungbuk governor in the 9th nationwide local elections scheduled for June 3, and incumbent mayor Kim Hongkyu as its candidate for the Gangneung mayoral race.
On April 27, Park Deokheum, Chairman of the Nomination Management Committee of the People Power Party, announced, "As a result of the primaries, Kim Younghwan and Kim Hongkyu have been finalized as the candidates."
According to the People Power Party, the nomination process reflected 50% of the votes from the electoral college conducted over two days, April 25 and 26, and 50% from a public opinion poll of the general public.

In particular, regarding parliamentary by-election nominations in districts such as Buk-gu-gap in Busan and Dalseong-gap in Daegu, he said, "We will prioritize primaries over strategic nominations." However, he added that the specific nomination methods will be finalized after further discussions.
