Juntae Park: "Excessive Internal Criticism of Jang's Leadership... Focus Should Be on Exposing Democratic Party Government's Incompetence"
"Nomination Schedule for Local Elections
Not Considered Delayed"
Juntae Park, Secretary to the Party Leader of the People Power Party, stated on the 26th, "The internal criticism toward the party leader and the leadership is excessive," adding, "It has crossed the line."
Park made these remarks at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul on this day, in relation to the continued internal criticism before and after Representative Donghyuk Jang's visit to the United States.
Park commented, "Healthy criticism of the leadership can help strengthen the party," but also pointed out, "However, making remarks that are almost personal attacks against the party leader ahead of an election does not help the party or the election in any way."
He continued, "From now on, all members of the party must focus their capabilities on scrutinizing and informing the public about the incompetence and lawlessness of the Democratic Party government," adding, "All of the party leader's messages will also focus on the incompetence of the Democratic Party government and the disqualifications of the Democratic Party's candidate."
Previously, Representative Jang faced allegations that he exaggerated the titles of American officials he met during his 8-night, 10-day visit to the United States. In response, he stated on his social networking service (SNS), "(Some media outlets) are distorting the essence of the matter by focusing on the title exaggeration," and added, "The rank of the relevant position is clearly Assistant Secretary or higher."
Meanwhile, Park also met with reporters on this day and commented on the recent record-low approval rating of the party, saying, "Judging the party's current situation or capabilities based solely on certain company figures could lead to misinterpretation," and "We need to review various surveys comprehensively."

He further said, "While our party's nomination schedule has been somewhat delayed compared to the Democratic Party, it is not particularly late when looking back at the last local elections," adding, "Most of the election candidates are being finalized, so we will prepare accordingly." He also stated, "The party leader is carrying out necessary schedules in private."
