Special Prosecutor Conducts Late-Night Search of Prosecution’s Internal Server Over Shim Woojung Martial Law Allegations
"Execution Delayed Due to Compliance with Criminal Procedure"
Special Prosecutor Conducted Search and Seizure at Supreme Prosecutors’ Office on April 23
The second Special Prosecutor’s Office has conducted a search and seizure of the prosecution’s internal network server, “e-Pros.” This move is interpreted as part of the investigation into Shim Woojung, former Prosecutor General, regarding his alleged involvement in the December 3 Martial Law and suspicions surrounding former President Yoon Suk Yeol’s decision to forgo filing an immediate appeal.
On April 25, the special prosecutor’s office announced that the search and seizure warrant for the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office’s e-Pros server, located in Seo-gu, Gwangju, was executed at night on April 24. This is the first time a search and seizure has been conducted on the entire e-Pros server. It is reported that the special prosecutor’s office carried out this operation to obtain internal messenger records and other materials from within the prosecution.
The special prosecutor’s office stated that the execution of the warrant was delayed to comply with procedures under the Criminal Procedure Act. The operation was halted late at night, and the search team withdrew from the site. The office announced that they plan to continue executing the warrant at a later date.
