Proactively Identifying Core Agendas
Busan Institute for the Promotion of Science and Technology Higher Education (BISTEP, President Kim Youngboo) will hold the first meeting of the "Busan Science and Technology Issue Discovery Insight Group" on April 27, aiming to discover future growth engines for Busan and to develop agendas for science and technology policy.
This meeting has been organized as the first forum for discussion to proactively identify key issues that will drive innovation in the Busan region in response to the rapidly changing domestic and international science and technology environment. In particular, the meeting aims to strengthen the region-led science and technology planning capacity and to derive effective policy tasks based on expert opinions.
External experts and institutional representatives in the fields of maritime, industry, and research and development policy will participate in the meeting to share the operational direction of the Insight Group and set the themes and scope for issue discovery in 2026. Furthermore, the meeting will specify various policy ideas through individual expert proposals on key issues and a comprehensive discussion.
This year, in particular, the main keyword is the "Era of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in Busan." The group will focus on discussing science and technology cooperation tasks for Busan to become a global marine capital. Issues will be identified from multiple perspectives, such as technology, policy, institutions, investment, and infrastructure, and there will also be strategic discussions considering alignment with national and Busan City policies.
