Lotte Cultureworks and Show Note Launch Full-Scale Musical Production Collaboration
"Siren," Based on a Popular Web Novel, Set for Release
Lotte Cultureworks, the operator of Korea's first musical-exclusive theater, Charlotte Theater, is partnering with musical production company Show Note to produce new musicals.
On April 22, Lotte Cultureworks announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Show Note for joint musical production and future collaboration on performance content. The company stated that it will strengthen its capabilities as a content producer. Lotte Cultureworks emphasized that it plans to expand its business scope from theater operation to planning and producing performance intellectual property (IP).
Lotte Cultureworks plans to present "Siren" as its first collaborative production with Show Note.
The musical "Siren" is based on the popular Kakao Page web novel "Siren: I Became a Contract Family with the Villain (Siren)" and its webtoon adaptation of the same name. Both the web novel and webtoon are mega-hits, each recording over a million pages read. The webtoon ranked second overall in the romance fantasy webtoon category on Kakao Page in 2022. The combined cumulative views for both the web novel and webtoon have reached 250 million, based on the total from Kakao Page and Kakao Webtoon.
"Siren" marks the first project in which Lotte Cultureworks is directly participating in planning from the early stages. The two companies plan to closely collaborate throughout the entire process, including script development, casting, marketing and promotion, and overseas expansion, to enhance the quality of the production.
