Sangju City to Reduce Wedding Expenses
Part of the Four Major Cultural Movements to Overcome the Burden of Low Birth Rates
Sangju City in North Gyeongsang Province announced that on April 17, it had originally planned to support six engaged couples to reduce the financial burden of weddings and promote a simpler wedding culture. However, due to an increase in demand for small weddings compared to the previous year, the city has selected an additional three couples, bringing the total number of supported couples to nine.
The selected couples will receive support for wedding expenses, including venue decoration, wedding photography, attire, and makeup, up to a maximum of 5 million won.
To be eligible, at least one member of the engaged couple must be a resident of Sangju City as of the application date. The additional application period runs until May 15. The final selection results will be individually notified at the end of May.
An official from Sangju City stated, "As part of the Four Major Cultural Movements to Overcome Low Birth Rates, we will continue to expand the Small Wedding Support Program to promote a 'wedding culture without financial burden.'"
