U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 19th (local time) that an Iranian cargo ship attempting to break through the U.S. maritime blockade had been stopped and is now being detained.
On this day, President Trump stated on Truth Social, "Today, an Iranian cargo ship named 'TOUSKA', approximately 900 feet (about 275 meters) in length and weighing as much as an aircraft carrier, attempted to pass through our maritime blockade, but the outcome was not favorable for them."
President Trump explained, "The U.S. Navy issued a warning to the TOUSKA to stop," and added, "When the Iranian crew refused to comply, our Navy created a hole in the ship's engine room, bringing it to an immediate halt."
He continued, "Currently, the U.S. Marine Corps is detaining the vessel. The TOUSKA is under sanctions by the U.S. Department of the Treasury due to its past record of illegal activities. We have now fully identified the ship and are in the process of verifying its cargo."
Earlier that morning, President Trump posted on Truth Social that a U.S. negotiation team was heading to Pakistan, and threatened that if Iran did not agree to terms, the U.S. would destroy Iran's power plants and bridges.
