Progressive Party's Kim Jae-yeon Proposes Democratic Reform Progressive Five-Party Election Alliance
Proposal to Form a Secretary-General Level Dialogue Body by the End of April
Kim Jaeyeon, Chairperson of the Progressive Party, on April 19 proposed an electoral alliance of the five pro-government parties (the Democratic Party of Korea, the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, the Progressive Party, the Basic Income Party, and the Social Democratic Party), stating, "I propose a democratic, reformist, and progressive five-party electoral coalition to eradicate the forces of rebellion and to achieve a major social transformation."
During a press conference held at the National Assembly on this day, Chairperson Kim declared, "(The democratic, reformist, and progressive five-party electoral coalition is) a solemn mandate of our time to prevent historical regression and to restore democracy," thus making the proposal.

View original imageChairperson Kim also suggested, "I propose that by April 30, each party forms an official dialogue body at the secretary-general level," adding, "By the first weekend of May, we should complete the unified primary, establish a joint election committee, and build region-specific strongholds for victory before the official candidate registration deadline on May 14."
She further stated, "Negotiations for metropolitan mayoral and National Assembly elections should be conducted on a party-to-party basis," clarifying, "This alliance should not be a tactic limited to a specific region, but a nationwide coalition in which all five parties participate."

After the press conference, Chairperson Kim met with reporters and addressed the recent conflict between the Innovation Party and the Progressive Party over the Pyeongtaek-si-eul constituency in Gyeonggi Province, saying, "It is time to demonstrate greater decisiveness as a candidate actively campaigning in the region, with the aim of untangling the complex situation."
