China: "Japan's SDF Entry into Taiwan Strait an Unprecedented Provocation... Dangerous Plot"
Guo Jiakun, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, at Regular Briefing
"New Militarism in Japan Is Becoming a Root Cause Threatening Regional Peace"
On April 17, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the entry of a Japanese Self-Defense Force vessel into the Taiwan Strait, stating that it "revealed a dangerous plot to undermine peace and stability" and called it an "unprecedented provocation."
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jia-kun said at a regular briefing that "the erroneous remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi regarding Taiwan have already had a serious impact on China-Japan relations," adding that "Japan's dispatch of a Self-Defense Force vessel to the Taiwan Strait to flaunt its military power and provoke intentionally adds wrongdoing upon wrongdoing."
Spokesperson Guo also mentioned recent terrorist threats against Chinese nationals in Japan, pointing out that "the emergence of a 'new militarism' in Japan is becoming a root cause threatening regional peace."
