People Power Party Candidates Present Daegu Development Pledges... Primary Debate Held
Pledges Include Supplementary Budget, Fostering High Value-Added Industries
Each Preliminary Candidate Highlights Their Qualifications
The preliminary candidates for the Daegu mayoral election from the People Power Party have pledged to promote supplementary budget allocation, foster high value-added industries, support local businesses, and create quality jobs as part of their campaign promises for Daegu's development.
On the afternoon of April 13, during the second vision debate for the Daegu mayoral primary, Assemblyman Chu Kyung-ho of the People Power Party responded to the question, "What do you think is the most urgent issue to resolve for Daegu's development?" by stating, "I will begin the process of drawing up a supplementary budget to revive the livelihoods and economy of our citizens."

Upon taking office, I will immediately establish an Emergency Economic Situation Room and operate emergency economic countermeasure meetings. We will also launch domestic and international investment attraction teams involving business leaders and labor representatives."
Assemblyman Yoo Young-ha mentioned attracting Samsung's semiconductor business. He explained, "The Seoul Economic Institute analyzed the economic impact of one semiconductor fabrication plant, estimating an economic ripple effect of 128 trillion won, job creation for 370,000 people, and 2.5 trillion won in tax revenue. Attracting a Samsung hospital will not only provide Daegu citizens with high-quality medical services, but, more importantly, by linking it with the nearby advanced medical complex, we can foster high value-added industries and the medical bioindustry."
Former Dong-gu District Head Lee Jae-man stated, "We will produce unicorn companies in seven industries, including software, high value-added agriculture, mobility, and Sphere. By attracting the mega-sized Sphere performance venue, we will build Daegu into a cultural capital. We will also manage apartment supply to ensure that citizens' real estate values are protected."
Former Assemblyman Hong Seok-jun said, "We must foster local companies. I played a key role in transforming the region's existing machinery and metal industries into the robotics industry, but there is still more to do. To attract major companies, we are connecting with many people in fields that have compelling reasons to come to Daegu, such as data centers, systems, semiconductors, and robotics, and I am confident that we can bring them here."
Assemblyman Yoon Jae-ok remarked, "According to a survey conducted by Daegu city last year, the top priority chosen by citizens was job creation and stabilizing the local economy, followed by fostering future new industries. I will turn your demands into reality. Through the 'Double Bag Project,' we will achieve 10 billion dollars in future industry exports and usher in an era of 1 million foreign tourists. We will develop Dongseong-ro as a hub for medical tourism, encouraging foreign tourists to spend money as they eat and stay here."
