Responding to Logistics Demand: Emphasizing the Importance of Securing Industrial Complex Competitiveness
Hadong County in South Gyeongsang Province has requested support at the National Assembly level for the construction of essential railway infrastructure, a key foundation to revitalize the local industrial complex.
On April 8, the county announced that Lim Jongmoon, head of the Safety and Transportation Division, visited the office of National Assembly member Seo Cheonho to propose the inclusion of the Daesongsandan Line railway construction project in the 5th National Railway Network Establishment Plan, as well as to address local railway issues such as the introduction of the Gyeongjeon Line KTX-Eum stop at Hadong Station.
This visit was conducted as part of a focused administrative effort to proactively respond to the anticipated surge in logistics demand following the designation of the Daesong Industrial Complex as a Special Opportunity Development Zone and to help Hadong County emerge as an economic hub on the southern coast.

In particular, the county emphasized that with companies scheduled to invest a total of 884.2 billion won in the Daesong Industrial Complex, an inbound railway capable of transporting large volumes of freight is essential to securing the industrial park's competitive advantage.
Additionally, regarding the Gyeongjeon Line KTX-Eum Hadong Station stop, for which a feasibility study is currently being conducted by the National Railway Authority, the county expressed the strong wishes of Hadong residents and highlighted the anticipated tourism and local economic revitalization effects should the train stop be established. The county requested special attention and support at the National Assembly level.
Furthermore, during the visit of the Chairman of the National Integration Committee to Hwagae on April 9, these issues were again emphasized. The Mayor of Hadong directly proposed the necessity of the KTX-Eum stop at Hadong Station to Chairman Lee Seokyeon, who reportedly expressed strong sympathy and indicated his commitment to personally follow up with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
A Hadong County official stated, "The 5th National Railway Network Establishment Plan is a crucial blueprint for determining railway investments over the next decade," adding, "We have sufficiently conveyed to the National Assembly that the railway, as a 'logistics artery,' is essential for Hadong County to complete its cluster as a secondary battery and mobility materials base."
In response, Assemblyman Seo's office is said to have expressed its intention to actively cooperate with the relevant ministries and play a proactive role so that Hadong County's key railway projects can be included in the national plan.
