A fire broke out on a submarine at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Ulsan Shipyard, resulting in one worker being reported missing.
According to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries on April 9, a fire occurred inside a submarine undergoing maintenance at the Ulsan Shipyard that afternoon. Although the fire was extinguished after it broke out, one of the workers involved in the operation has not been located.
The submarine in question has been identified as the Hong Beomdo, reportedly the seventh vessel of the Son Wonil-class submarines.
A representative from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries stated, "A fire broke out inside the submarine during maintenance work this afternoon and has been extinguished. However, as the whereabouts of one worker remain unconfirmed, we are making every effort to search for and rescue the individual in cooperation with the fire authorities."
