The newly opened Jangseong Water Safety Experience Center was developed based on a close business agreement with Korea Rural Community Corporation, starting from the planning stage in May 2023. The project’s quality was enhanced through the formation of a task force team, preliminary planning meetings, and benchmarking of other regions. After completing the necessary licensing procedures, the construction of the center was finalized in December last year.

The center focuses on maximizing students’ ability to adapt to water and respond to emergencies by replicating realistic aquatic environments. It offers inland water safety education programs, including practical survival swimming and CPR/emergency first aid training for elementary school students, as well as a variety of water sports experience activities for youth.

In particular, the center plans to expand nature-friendly education by linking with the nearby Chukryeongsan Hinoki Forest to offer year-round experiential physical activity programs. Additionally, training sessions to strengthen teachers’ capabilities in survival swimming instruction will also be conducted.

Jeong Sunyoung, Head of the Office of Education, emphasized, “The Jangseong Water Safety Experience Center is a key facility for realizing student-centered, hands-on water safety education,” adding, “We will continue to actively cooperate with the local community to further expand safe and robust educational programs.”

Meanwhile, after completing the detailed program design and operational preparations in the first half of this year, the Jangseong Water Safety Experience Center plans to officially launch its water safety experiential education for students starting in the second half of the year.
