View original imageAccording to HD Construction Equipment on April 8, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the joint development and application of smart safety technology for construction equipment with Hyundai Engineering & Construction at the latter's headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 7th.
This agreement was initiated to strengthen safety management capabilities focused on construction equipment and to establish a sustainable collaborative framework by combining the technical expertise and on-site operational experience of both companies.
The two companies will jointly expand the supply of construction equipment equipped with smart safety technologies and collaborate on technical consultations and standardization efforts to incorporate safety devices from the manufacturing stage. In addition, they plan to cooperate in on-site demonstrations and performance verification of construction equipment fitted with smart safety devices.
HD Construction Equipment will also provide advanced safety solutions that can be applied to existing equipment operated by Hyundai Engineering & Construction at construction sites. Notable examples include the Smart Around View Monitor (SAVM), which uses artificial intelligence (AI)-based cameras to detect personnel around the equipment and alert to potential hazards, and the Overload Warning Device (OWD), which detects the weight of lifted materials and the inclination of the equipment in real time to warn against the risk of tipping.
Beginning in the second half of this year, the 'Smart Excavator,' which incorporates next-generation safety technologies, will also be gradually deployed to job sites. This equipment will feature safety functions such as an E-STOP function that automatically stops operation in the event of a collision risk, and a 'Virtual Wall' that controls the equipment to stay within predetermined work boundaries.
