POSCO Decides to Directly Hire 7,000 Partner Company Employees
Partner Company Employees to Be Directly Employed
POSCO has made the decision to directly hire employees from its partner companies in order to resolve issues related to the primary-contractor and subcontractor structure.
On April 7, POSCO announced that it has established a roadmap to directly recruit personnel from partner companies who have been supporting operations on the production lines at its Pohang and Gwangyang steelworks.
As a result, approximately 7,000 on-site workers currently employed by partner companies are expected to be gradually converted into regular POSCO employees.
Until now, POSCO had maintained a structure where both directly employed staff and partner company employees worked together due to the nature of steel production, which requires 24-hour equipment operation and involves significant variation in job duties between tasks.
