ACC Partners with Gwangju Arts Middle and High Schools to Showcase Emerging Artists
Emerging Artists Discovery Exhibition at the Bamboo Garden through May 21
Expansion to University Graduates' Exhibition from September to November
The Asia Culture Center (ACC) announced on April 7 that it will hold the "ACC-Regional Emerging Artists Discovery Exhibition I," showcasing works by students from Gwangju Arts Middle and High Schools, at the Bamboo Garden of the Culture Information Center through May 21.
This exhibition is the result of cooperation between the ACC and Gwangju Arts Middle and High Schools, sequentially presenting 93 works created by visual arts majors as part of their regular curriculum.
Part 1 of the exhibition, featuring students from the Department of Fine Arts at Gwangju Arts Middle School, will run through April 23. Under the theme "Individuality: Where Nameless Colors Gather," the exhibition will display 29 paintings and 11 three-dimensional pieces, for a total of 40 works. It highlights the early creative worlds of these aspiring artists, focusing on works that capture each student's unique perspective and sensibility.
Part 2, which will be held from May 2 to May 21, features students from the Department of Korean Painting and the Department of Fine Arts at Gwangju Arts High School. With the theme "Leap: Beyond One Step," 34 paintings, 4 sculptures, 8 design pieces, and 7 comics—a total of 53 works—will be showcased. The exhibition emphasizes the students' expanded modes of expression and exploration process through works from various subfields, including Korean painting, Western painting, sculpture, design, and comics.
Following last year's exhibition of about 50 works by students from the Department of Korean Painting at Gwangju Arts High School, the ACC has expanded this year's event to include the middle school. The purpose is to provide local artistic talent with opportunities to present their work and to support creative activities at various stages of growth through exhibition programs.
Sangwook Kim, Director of the ACC, stated, "This exhibition focuses more on the creative process than on the completed works themselves."
