Youngraegi Claims “Lineage Classic Neglects Illegal Activities”
NCSoft Files Complaint for Spreading False Information and Obstructing Business Operations
On April 7, NCSoft announced that it had filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul against the operator of the YouTube channel "Youngraegi" on charges including spreading false information and interfering with work.
According to NCSoft, the YouTuber Youngraegi claimed on their channel that "Lineage Classic" neglected to address users of illegal programs and unjustly sanctioned users who reported such programs without grounds. Youngraegi further alleged that not only were legitimate users sanctioned, but some were also isolated from the game, preventing them from logging in.
NCSoft stated, "An analysis of internal data and a review by internal and external experts confirmed that Youngraegi's claims are clearly false," emphasizing that "false information, not based on facts, has rapidly spread to an unspecified number of people, causing significant confusion among Lineage Classic users."
The company continued, "This has also negatively impacted the overall reliability of NCSoft's services and operations, which are focused on eradicating illegal programs," and added, "The credibility of the illegal program reporting system in the game has been undermined, and user participation in reporting and campaigns has weakened, severely affecting all aspects of game management work."
Since the launch of "Lineage Classic," NCSoft has been running campaigns targeting users to eradicate abnormal gameplay and respond to illegal programs. The company has actively responded, sanctioning a total of 5,971,757 accounts across 105 instances. The results of these actions are communicated to users through official announcements.
