Hyejin Park, Dankook University Professor of Vocal Music, Appointed as New Director of the National Opera Company
On April 6, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the appointment of Hyejin Park, Professor of Vocal Music at Dankook University, as the new director and artistic director of the National Opera Company, a foundation. Hyejin Park will serve a three-year term.

View original imageThe newly appointed director, Hyejin Park, graduated from the Department of Vocal Music at Yonsei University and completed her master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music. Since 2009, she has been a professor at the College of Music and Arts at Dankook University.
She has performed leading roles in numerous operas, including "La Bohème," "Carmen," and "Turandot," and was recognized for her artistic excellence by winning the Best Female Lead Award at the 5th Korea Opera Awards. From 2022 until recently, she led the Seoul Metropolitan Opera Company.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism evaluated Director Park as a leader with extensive experience and expertise spanning both the performing arts scene and education.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hwee Young Choi stated, "We expect that the new director, drawing on her diverse field experience and expertise as an opera singer, educator, and former head of the Seoul Metropolitan Opera Company, will further elevate the artistic quality and international standing of the National Opera Company, while also contributing to the popularization of opera and the expansion of its audience base."
