GS Engineering & Construction and LG Electronics Join Forces to Build 'Robot-Friendly' Residential Service Model
GS Engineering & Construction announced on April 6 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LG Electronics HS Robotics Research Institute to build a "next-generation residential robot service model."
Through this agreement, the two companies will develop a future-oriented residential service model that combines GS Engineering & Construction's residential brand Xi and LG Electronics' artificial intelligence (AI) home robot. Their plan is to lead future residential culture by providing various AI-based residential services.
They will derive the optimal scenario for providing robot services within residential spaces and establish "robot-friendly design standards," including securing optimal robot movement routes, integrating dedicated elevators, and building charging infrastructure. These standards will be reflected from the apartment design stage.
This collaboration will focus on developing robot-friendly design standard technologies based on the AI home robot "CLOiD" from LG Electronics. Currently, CLOiD provides customized in-unit lifestyle services by acting as an active assistant connected to home appliances. In addition, serving and delivery robots equipped with autonomous driving technology developed by LG Electronics' subsidiary Bear Robotics will be added to support the use of community facilities within the complex and logistics between residential units.
GS Engineering & Construction plans to implement this AI and robot-based residential model starting with the Seongsu Strategic Redevelopment Zone District 1 and is considering expanding it to other major urban redevelopment projects such as Yeouido.
