He emphasized, "We will continue to develop green infrastructure within the city to enhance the quality of life for our citizens."
The newly opened Gwangju Central Park (San 2-1, Gyeongan-dong area) was a site designated as a neighborhood park in 1993, but had remained undeveloped for a long period. To address the sunset provision for urban parks, Gwangju City introduced the "Private Park Special Project," successfully completing the project by collaborating with the private sector. As a result, over 70% of the total area of 440,000 square meters was developed as a park and donated to the city.

In particular, Gwangju Central Park, which is equivalent in size to 61 soccer fields, is equipped with a variety of facilities such as the Child Growth Center, camping facilities, a reading rest area, a visitor center, a treehouse, a playground for companion dogs, a barefoot loess path, water features, and scenic rest areas. Restrooms and parking lots have also been installed for the convenience of visitors.
