Office of the President: "Reports of Considering Hormuz Strait Toll Payment Are Groundless and Not Under Consideration"
The Blue House stated on April 2 that reports claiming the government is carefully considering paying toll fees for passage through the Strait of Hormuz are "completely untrue and not under consideration."
The National Security Office of the Blue House issued a press release in the afternoon, clarifying this position. The Blue House emphasized, "Our government maintains that, in accordance with relevant international norms, the freedom of navigation and safety for all vessels, including ours, in the Strait of Hormuz must be ensured, and that the normalization of global energy supply should be achieved as soon as possible." It added, "On this basis, we are communicating and cooperating with the countries concerned."

Earlier, a media outlet reported that, during an emergency economic review meeting presided over by President Lee Jaemyung, there was discussion about paying passage fees for the Strait of Hormuz as a way to secure energy imports. The payment of toll fees for the strait is being promoted by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, while the U.S. government reportedly views it as a violation of international law.
