Suhyup Mobilizes to Stabilize Fisheries Fuel Prices... 10 Billion Won Support for Fishermen
Support to Be Provided Starting from the Rise in Fishery Fuel Costs in April
The National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (Suhyup) announced on April 2 that it has allocated its own budget and is reviewing support of over 10 billion won for fishermen to stabilize fuel costs for fisheries in response to the Middle East crisis.
On this day, Suhyup held the first emergency response meeting on the Middle East war and discussed ways to minimize the damage to fishermen in preparation for a prolonged conflict in the region.
Going forward, Suhyup plans to allocate an additional supplementary budget and, after approval by the general assembly, promptly provide fuel cost support for fishermen totaling 10 billion won. The support will apply retroactively, starting with the increase in fishery fuel prices this month.
If fishery fuel prices continue to rise, Suhyup will consider additional support. The organization is also closely monitoring areas such as seafood production and consumption, fishery equipment, and financial assets that are expected to be impacted, and will respond company-wide to prevent further damage.
