Government to Force Dollar Sales?... Koo Yoon-cheol Requests Investigation into Online 'Fake News'
The government has announced a firm stance against the recent spread of rumors online, particularly in internet cafes, regarding a so-called "forced dollar sale."
On April 2, Koo Yoon-cheol, Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy and Minister of Economy and Finance, stated, "The claim that the government will forcibly require the sale of dollars is entirely unfounded and has never been discussed. It is clearly fake news."
Deputy Prime Minister Koo explained that "amid references to an 'Emergency Fiscal and Economic Order' in response to the prolonged Middle East war, claims that the government will forcibly require the sale of dollars have circulated on some internet cafes and blogs." He emphasized that these rumors are completely baseless.
