View original imageThe Korea Music Content Association is changing its name to the "Korea Popular Music Industry Association (KOREA POPMUSIC INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION, KPIA)."
On March 31, the Korea Music Content Association held a board meeting and general assembly, where it decided to change its name to the Korea Popular Music Industry Association, the association announced on April 1.
The association emphasized that it represents the industry, as its member companies are involved in every stage from production to distribution and consumption. Looking ahead, it plans to serve as a central body that improves the business environment from an industrial perspective and protects the rights and interests of its member companies.
During this meeting, the association appointed Woo Seunghyun as the new chairman. Kim Changhwan, who served as chairman since 2016, will now serve as the chairman of the board.
Chairman Woo stated, "This is not just a simple name change, but an effort to redefine the association's role in the rapidly evolving music industry." He added, "We will establish ourselves as an action-oriented association that leads discussions on policy and institutional improvements." He continued, "We will also contribute to the development of the industry as a partner befitting its growing stature."

The association, known as DAUMHYEOP, is comprised of major domestic record labels such as HYBE, JYP, SM, and YG, as well as distributors like Kakao Entertainment and overseas direct distributors. It was established as a non-profit corporation on December 9, 2008, with approval from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It currently operates the Circle Chart.
