Iranian President: "Ready to End the War if US Guarantees No Further Attacks"
"Iran Does Not Want War"
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that he is prepared to end the war if there are guarantees that there will be no further attacks from the United States and Israel. This marks the first time since the conflict began that the Iranian side has directly expressed its intention for a ceasefire, raising renewed hopes for an end to the war.
According to Euronews on March 31 (local time), President Pezeshkian spoke by phone with Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, and said, “Iran does not want war,” and added, “We are ready to end the war if there are guarantees that there will be no additional attacks from the United States and Israel.”
President Pezeshkian emphasized, “Iran engaged in negotiations with the United States in good faith, but was attacked illegally during the talks, which shows that the United States is refusing diplomacy. The US-Israeli military attacks against Iran are an unprecedented crime and a clear violation of international law.” He then asserted, “Europe should abandon its destructive approach and cooperate with Iran in a manner consistent with international law.”
After the call, President Costa also posted on his X account (formerly known as Twitter), “The current situation in the Middle East is extremely dangerous,” and explained, “During my call with the Iranian president, I urged Iran to de-escalate, exercise restraint, protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, and respect mutual interests.”

Iranian authorities have also revealed that dialogue with the United States is ongoing. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with Al Jazeera that “he is receiving direct messages from Steve Whitcoff, the US Special Envoy for the Middle East,” but clarified, “However, this does not mean that we are officially negotiating with the United States.”
