The seminar was organized to assess the security of digital wallet technologies and to share case studies and guidelines on risk responses to new security threats, with the aim of creating a safe environment for digital wallet services in the financial sector.
The event was hosted by the "Digital Wallet Security Council," operated by the Financial Security Institute. The council officially launched in September 2025 with the goal of establishing security technology standards and building a robust security system for digital wallets. Eleven organizations are participating, including KB Kookmin Bank, KakaoBank, Hana Bank, Woori Bank, NH NongHyup Bank, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, Shinhan Bank, Samsung Securities, Shinhan Investment Corp., Viva Republica, and ETRI. Since its inception, the council has identified security requirements for different types of wallets, such as digital asset wallets based on STO and stablecoins, and identity wallets based on mobile identification. It has also developed the comprehensive "Digital Wallet Security Framework."
This seminar featured presentations on four topics: blockchain wallet technology, AI identity authentication, hardware security, and legal response strategies. Kim Jonggwang, Director at DSRV, discussed "The Rise of Account Abstraction (AA) Technology in Blockchain Wallets and Response Strategies for the Financial Sector," explaining the evolution of second-generation wallets, changes in authentication models, and the need for proactive security strategies to adapt to changing technical standards.
Jeon Jinyoung, Director at Hopae, delivered a presentation titled "Identity in the Age of AI Agents," analyzing threat factors in existing authentication systems and emphasizing the importance of verified identity in preparation for the era of AI agents. Attorney Park Soyoung of Yulchon LLC spoke on "Types of Digital Asset Crimes and Legal Response Strategies," outlining sanction systems by crime type and institutional responses to regulatory changes, and suggesting that the industry strengthen its risk management and legal response capabilities.
