Seoul Education Office and Seoul National University Sign MOU: "AI Assessment System, Teacher Capability Enhancement"
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on March 29 that it will sign a comprehensive memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Seoul National University's College of Education, Seoul National University Education Research Institute, and Seoul National University Institute of Education, focusing on "collaboration for future education in an era of great transformation," on March 30.
This agreement was reached based on the recognition that the introduction of a new educational paradigm is urgently needed amid rapid changes such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation. The organizations plan to cooperate on eight key initiatives: ▲comprehensive research collaboration on competency-based curricula, instruction, and assessment; ▲advancement of 'ChaeumAI,' an AI-based essay and open-ended assessment system, and strengthening teacher capabilities; ▲implementation of the 'Korean Baccalaureate (KB)' model based on the International Baccalaureate (IB) program; ▲promotion of special graduate training and micro-degree programs for teachers; ▲establishment of training systems for mathematics and science teachers to lead in the AI era; ▲training of specialists in career and academic planning guidance ahead of the full implementation of the high school credit system; ▲expansion of support programs for career competency for both students and parents; and ▲development of field-based teacher training curricula in collaboration with the College of Education.
In addition, the organizations will jointly develop teacher training curricula to address various needs in the field, such as supporting students' mental health, providing career and academic counseling, responding to the increasing number of students from multicultural families, and educational responses to school violence.
