This project was promoted by Aekyung Chemical at its Ulsan plant and involved building a plant capable of producing 15,000 tons of TPC annually through an eco-friendly process. TPC is a core raw material for the super fiber para-Aramid, for which demand is growing in optical cables, electric vehicles, and the aerospace sector. Notably, this is the first case in Korea to establish a system for mass-producing TPC domestically, which had previously relied entirely on imports.
In 2024, SC Engineering won this project with a contract value of approximately KRW 9.1 billion and carried out the entire engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) process. Despite a tight construction schedule, the company maintained a zero-accident and zero-injury site through thorough safety management and successfully completed the project. The company reported that it received a plaque of appreciation at the completion ceremony in recognition of these achievements.
A company spokesperson stated, "It is highly meaningful for us to participate as an EPC partner in Aekyung Chemical's major specialty project that led to the localization of TPC. Based on the execution experience and safety management capabilities accumulated through this project, we will expand our successful project orders in specialty and other core industries and strengthen our profitability-focused business structure."
