"Reappointment of Spokesperson Park Minyoung Is a Rejection of the Public's 'Jeol-Yun' Demand"
People Power Party Leadership’s Decision to Reappoint Draws Internal Criticism
Calls for “Leader Jang Donghyuk and Leadership to Resign” Emerge
The leadership of the People Power Party has faced criticism within the party after reappointing Park Minyoung, the media spokesperson who was previously involved in a controversy over inappropriate remarks, on the 26th. Some party members claimed this move goes against the “Jeol-Yoon” (absolute Yoon) resolution and have called for resignations.
Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, is speaking at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 26th. On that day, the People Power Party leadership approved the reappointment of seven spokespersons, including Park Minyoung, the media spokesperson.

Even if the ‘shelf life of Yeouido language’ is short, and even though ‘politics is a living organism,’ how are we to understand the party leadership’s decision to go back on a promise made to the public in just over 20 days?”
Lee continued, “Today, Leader Jang and the leadership broke their promise of (grand unity) contained in the resolution and have fueled further conflict. This has demoralized the People Power Party’s preliminary candidates who are struggling for victory in the upcoming election.” He further emphasized, “Most importantly, this decision rejects the public’s demand for action regarding the ‘Jeol-Yoon’ promise. The party leadership must take responsibility for this decision.”
Cho Eunhee, another member of the People Power Party, wrote on social media, “By reappointing the media spokesperson, is the party declaring that it will tolerate inappropriate remarks directed at party advisors and people with disabilities? This is a decision that blatantly betrays the expectations of the public.” She urged the leadership, saying, “The public is watching. Stop making excuses and acting unilaterally right now, and transform yourself through responsible politics.”
Park Junghoon, also a member of the People Power Party, stated on social media, “I have repeatedly emphasized that a ‘Jeol-Yoon resolution’ without action is meaningless. In the end, the reason why Leader Jang did not read the resolution at the general assembly is now being revealed in this way.” He added, “Leader Jang, who went against the consensus of the members, and the Supreme Council members who agreed to the reappointment, should remove their names from the resolution and resign immediately.”
Earlier that morning, the People Power Party leadership held a Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly and reappointed seven spokespersons, including Park Minyoung. Park Minyoung had been singled out as a target when Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon called for personnel reform to implement changes in the party’s line. Park had been embroiled in several controversies for making inappropriate remarks, including disparaging comments about people with disabilities.
