Sahmyook University Selected for "Seoul My College" Three Years in a Row to Support Middle-Aged Career Development
Expanding Reemployment Education for Middle-aged and Older Adults
Sahmyook University is helping middle-aged and older adults prepare for the "second act" of their lives by utilizing its higher education infrastructure.
On March 27, Sahmyook University announced that it had been selected for the third consecutive year as an operating university for "Seoul My College," a program led by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Lifelong Education Promotion Agency. Seoul My College is a lifelong education program that leverages university education infrastructure to enhance the professional competencies of middle-aged and older adults in Seoul and supports their career transitions, including job changes, career shifts, and entrepreneurship.
As part of this initiative, Sahmyook University will operate the "SU-HOPE+ Middle-aged Professional Competency Academy" for Seoul residents in their 40s to 60s. The academy features an integrated education model that combines health, healing, and environment.
The regular program runs for eight weeks and is focused on qualification acquisition and hands-on training. Courses include: ▲ Well-Aging Healthcare ▲ Herbal Medicine Studies ▲ Level 2 Aromatherapy Specialist ▲ Level 2 Eco-Friendly Urban Agriculture Specialist, among others. Some of these courses are linked to nationally registered private certifications, making them highly applicable for re-employment or starting a business.
Special one-day lectures will be offered on topics such as: ▲ Pain Management Taping & Stretching ▲ Healthy Cooking ▲ Understanding and Utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) ▲ Creating Card News on Smartphones ▲ Making Dish Soap Bars, and more. Professors from relevant departments, including Physical Therapy, Nursing, and Physical Education, will participate to enhance the program’s professionalism.
