Gokseong Police Officer Caught Drunk Driving by Fellow Officers During Crackdown
Booked Without Detention and Under Investigation

A police officer affiliated with a local police station in Jeonnam was caught driving under the influence by fellow officers during a drunk driving crackdown.
Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju announced on the 24th that it had booked, without detention, a man in his 40s surnamed A, an inspector at Gokseong Police Station in Jeonnam, on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving), and is currently investigating the case.
According to the police on the 25th, Inspector A is suspected of driving his own vehicle under the influence of alcohol on a road in Singa-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, at around 12:02 a.m. the previous day.
The investigation revealed that Inspector A was caught by fellow police officers in Gwangju who were conducting a drunk driving crackdown while he was returning home after drinking with acquaintances. At the time of the incident, Inspector A's blood alcohol concentration was 0.051 percent, which is at the level that results in a driver’s license suspension.

Upon receiving notification of the incident, the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency immediately suspended Inspector A from duty and plans to proceed with disciplinary procedures depending on the results of the detailed investigation.
