Hyundai and Kia Sell 70,661 Vehicles in Europe in February, Down 3.6% from Last Year
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia sold a total of 70,661 vehicles in the European market in February this year, a 3.6% decrease compared to the same month last year.
According to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) on March 24, Hyundai Motor Company sold 33,603 vehicles and Kia sold 37,058 vehicles in Europe last month. Compared to the same month last year, Hyundai Motor Company's sales declined by 9.7%, while Kia's sales increased by 2.7%.
The combined market share in Europe for Hyundai Motor Company (3.4%) and Kia (3.8%) was 7.2%. This represents a decrease of 0.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
Hyundai Motor Group stated that the slight decrease in sales was due to intensified competition in the electric vehicle market and the influx of low-priced Chinese models. The company also explained that Hyundai Motor Company was affected by the reduced lineup resulting from the discontinuation of the i10 model at its plant in Türkiye.
The main sales models for Hyundai Motor Company were the Tucson (9,831 units), Kona (6,284 units), and i20 (4,684 units).
For Hyundai Motor Company's major eco-friendly vehicle sales, including hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and electric vehicles (EV), the figures were 5,484 units of the Tucson, 5,137 units of the Kona, and 2,382 units of the Inster (Casper Electric).
