Jongkyu Lee Re-elected as Chairman of the Korea Musical Association
Jongkyu Lee has been re-elected as Chairman of the Korea Musical Association.
The Korea Musical Association announced on March 24 that Jongkyu Lee, the current chairman, was re-elected as the 13th chairman in the chairman election held during the '2026 1st Regular General Meeting' at the Art House in Daehangno on the 23rd.
Chairman Jongkyu Lee will lead the association for an additional two years until March 31, 2028. The vice chairpersons appointed are Byungwon Kang, CEO of Live Co., Ltd.; Heekyung Ko, Dean of the Graduate School of Performing Arts at Hongik University; Sunghoon Lee, CEO of Shownote Co., Ltd.; and Jungyeol Lee, musical actor.
As his election pledges, Chairman Jongkyu Lee proposed the enactment of the Musical Industry Promotion Act and the establishment of follow-up frameworks; the designation of a dedicated organization and the launch of the Musical Promotion Committee; stabilization of association operations; improvement of the awards operation method; and support for the establishment of unions by sector, such as an actors' union and a creators' union.

Chairman Jongkyu Lee stated, "I will make every effort to ensure that the Musical Industry Promotion Act, currently submitted to the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, is passed during this term," adding, "I will do my utmost to lay an institutional foundation for the domestic musical industry and to build a sustainable ecosystem."
