Wanju County and Woosuk University Launch 'Thousand Won Breakfast' Project for Another Strong Year

View original imageThe event was attended by Wanju County Governor Yoo Heetae, Woosuk University President Park Nojun, County Councilor Lee Soondeok, and Kim Jeongeun, CEO of Yangjitteul Social Cooperative, among others. They personally served meals made with local food ingredients to university students who often skip breakfast due to their busy academic schedules, offering warm encouragement.
Reflecting the high level of student support, the county has significantly expanded the program’s scale this year. The number of operating days has been nearly doubled from 43 days last year to 80 days this year. As a result, more students can consistently receive quality breakfasts throughout the semester.
The menu has also been designed to actively incorporate student feedback. It will feature a variety of rice bowls made with locally grown rice, as well as nutritious, convenient meals including fresh, seasonal fruits supplied by the Wanju Local Food Cooperative and the Wanju Public Meal Support Center Foundation.
Wanju County Governor Yoo Heetae stated, "The Thousand Won Breakfast project is a key welfare initiative that helps young people prepare for their futures in good health. I hope more students will start their day with vibrant energy, thanks to healthy local food."
