Law Firm Robax Recruits Former Chief Judge Sangkyu Kim and Launches "Restructuring Support Center"
Recruitment of Former Suwon Bankruptcy Court Chief Judge Sangkyu Kim
Law Firm Robax has recruited Sangkyu Kim, former Chief Judge of Suwon Bankruptcy Court (26th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute), as its Representative Attorney. Attorney Kim will also serve as the head of the newly established “Restructuring Support Center” at Robax.
According to Robax on March 23, Attorney Kim has served in various courts for 29 years since his appointment as a judge in 1997. He has held positions as Presiding Judge of the Bankruptcy Division at Suwon District Court, Presiding Judge at Seoul Bankruptcy Court, and Chief Presiding Judge at Suwon Bankruptcy Court. From February 2024 until February this year, he served as Chief Judge of Suwon Bankruptcy Court. For a total of nine years prior to his retirement, he led corporate and personal rehabilitation and bankruptcy practices.
Attorney Kim also served as Presiding Judge at Seoul Central District Court, Seoul Southern District Court, Suwon District Court, and Changwon District Court. At Seoul Southern District Court, he handled many capital market cases as the Presiding Judge of the Securities Division. In addition, he held key judicial administration roles, including Family and Juvenile Deliberating Officer in the Judicial Policy Office of the National Court Administration and Head and Planning Professor of Judicial Training at the Judicial Research and Training Institute. During his tenure, he directly oversaw rehabilitation proceedings for major domestic companies such as STX Offshore & Shipbuilding, Sambu Construction, Caffe Bene, Hwaseung, Onyang Tourist Hotel, and Daewoo Engineering & Construction, leading the court’s rehabilitation and bankruptcy practices.
Coinciding with Attorney Kim’s recruitment, Robax officially launched the “Restructuring Support Center” to specialize in providing corporate restructuring, rehabilitation, and bankruptcy work. Attorney Kim will serve as the head of the center, while Jang Jinseok, a corporate restructuring expert and Representative Attorney, will serve as Deputy Head. Sung Sangwook, a leading expert in major economic cases, corporate and financial investigations, and Partner Attorney Na Yi-yeop have also joined the center. The Restructuring Support Center plans to provide one-stop services for the prevention and response to corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and corporate rehabilitation and bankruptcy work.
