Young Korean Traditional Musicians Take the Stage... Traditional Performance "Harmony" Opens Next Month
Three Weeks of Instrumental, Vocal, and Dance Performances
Ticket Reservations Open from March 24
Next-generation young Korean traditional musicians, selected through a record-high competition rate of 8.5 to 1, will gather together in one place.
The National Heritage Promotion Agency announced on March 23 that it will hold a traditional arts performance titled "Harmony" at the Korea House of Culture (Kous) every Wednesday for three weeks starting April 22, where the skills of these musicians can be showcased.
This planned program, which debuted in 2010, has established itself as a trusted gateway for the traditional arts sector. Last month, the National Heritage Promotion Agency selected 24 young artists aged 19 to 34 through an open call.
The stage will be divided into three sections—instrumental music, vocal music, and dance—based on the participants' specialties. Starting with the instrumental section, "Yulgak," on April 22, the program will continue with the vocal music section, "Gagak," on April 29, and the traditional dance section, "Mugak," on May 6. For each performance, eight musicians will take the stage to demonstrate various genres such as Sanjo, Pansori, and Taepyeongmu. The music director will be Kim Juhong, head of the Noreum Machi Arts Group.
