Follow-up Public Projects at Songho, Hakga Ports Progressing Smoothly
Haenam County in South Jeolla Province announced on March 20 that it has successfully completed the "Naejang Port Fishing Village New Vitality Promotion Project," which was implemented as a follow-up to the Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project, and held a completion ceremony in the Naejang Port area of Songji-myeon.
This project, which was selected as a public offering by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2023, had a total budget of 5 billion won, including 3.5 billion won in national funds. Based on this, the county carried out an extensive overhaul of aging fishing port facilities, including extending the pier, expanding the quay, installing streetlights, and repairing floating piers.

To address this, the county focused on "ensuring safety" and "improving fishing port functions" as the core of the project, concentrating efforts on extending the breakwater, securing space for boat hoisting, and expanding the quay, thereby solving long-standing issues for the local community.
A Haenam County official said, "By expanding safety infrastructure, we expect to create a vibrant fishing port environment that protects the lives and property of fishermen from natural disasters such as typhoons," adding, "We will do our best to create a safe and desirable fishing village through continuous facility maintenance and administrative support."
