College of Design Expands International Educational Cooperation
The College of Design at Dongseo University (President Jae-guk Jang) has appointed world-renowned design educator Professor Makoto Watanabe as a distinguished professor and is embarking on global collaboration in design education.
On March 17, Dongseo University held an appointment ceremony in the president's office, with President Jae-guk Jang and other university officials in attendance. The university also announced that they discussed ways to expand future international cooperation in design education during the event.

View original imageProfessor Watanabe is an expert in the field of design education, having served as Vice President of Chiba University in Japan, President of the Japanese Society for the Science of Design, and Executive Board Member of the international design education network 'Cumulus.' He is recognized as a key figure who has led exchanges in design education across Asia and globally.
Dongseo University expects Professor Watanabe to play a role in the internationalization and educational innovation of the Stella College of Arts, which is scheduled to launch in 2027. The university also anticipates that he will contribute to expanding design education exchanges among Korea, China, and Japan, strengthening cooperation with Chiba University, and laying the groundwork for a global campus network.
After the appointment ceremony, a seminar for faculty members of the College of Design was held at 6 p.m. in the Small Screening Room of the New Millennium Hall. The session, titled "Design Education Cases at Chiba University in Japan," featured discussions on Japan's design education system and its future direction.
