'The City' Festival: BTS Comeback Day Features Seoul Drone Show and More
BTS will launch an urban project that transforms the entire city center of Seoul into a festival space to coincide with their comeback.
On March 16, BTS unveiled detailed programs for "BTS The City Arirang Seoul" through the global fan platform Weverse. "The City Seoul" is a month-long project that will take place across various locations in downtown Seoul from March 20, the release date of their new album, until April 19.
On March 20, the release day of "Arirang," major events will be held at key sites across Seoul. Media facade shows will begin at 7:00 p.m. at locations such as Sungnyemun and Namsan Seoul Tower. At Ttukseom Hangang Park, a drone light show will take place at 8:30 p.m. for about 15 minutes.
From 7:00 p.m. on March 20 to midnight on March 21, digital billboards around Gwanghwamun Square—where the comeback live performance will be held—will broadcast related content. Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) will host a music light show from March 20 to April 12, and the Banpo Bridge Moonlight Rainbow Fountain will operate a music light show on March 21 and 22.
There will also be programs where visitors can participate directly. Locations such as Yeouido, DDP, and Shinsegae Square will hold a "stamp rally" as a mission to verify visits. At the Yeouido Hangang Park Event Plaza, from March 20 to 22, a "Love Song Lounge" will be set up, combining experiential content and busking performances.
In April, "DDP Army Madang" will be held at Exhibition Hall 1 in DDP from April 6 to 12. Additionally, the "Love Quarter" program, featuring installations of light and video, will take place in areas around Cheonggyecheon and Yongsan Station from April 6 to 19.
This project aims to enhance visitor convenience by partnering with various industries including mobility, accommodation, finance, and food and beverage. HYBE expressed expectations that "this collaboration will offer a more immersive experience compared to previous projects."
