View original imageOn March 15, North Korean media outlets including the Korean Central News Agency reported that Chairman Kim and his daughter Ju Ae carried soil and planted trees themselves at the Saebyol Street Motka Park to commemorate Tree Planting Day (March 14). Saebyol Street is a special residential complex in Pyongyang built for the families of Russian war veterans. The released photos show Chairman Kim and Ju Ae, dressed in a leather jacket, moving piles of soil together. Other photos show Chairman Kim, Ju Ae, Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui, Secretary Kim Yo Jong, and other key officials digging with shovels.
Prior to this, on March 12, Chairman Kim visited a munitions factory with his daughter Ju Ae, and on February 27, attended a ceremony where he presented newly developed and manufactured sniper rifles from the National Defense Science Institute to key senior officials and military commanders as gifts. The National Intelligence Service reported to the National Assembly that Kim Ju Ae has entered the stage of being designated as a successor, as she has been giving her opinions on certain policy matters.
