The National Pension Service stated, "This strategic partnership is significant in that it marks the first official example of a global, enterprise-level partnership covering all asset classes, moving beyond previous collaboration at the level of individual asset classes such as equities, bonds, and alternative investments."
Founded in 1998, AllianzGI is now a comprehensive global asset manager investing in a wide range of asset classes, including equities, bonds, multi-asset portfolios, and private markets. As of the end of 2025, the firm manages approximately 694 billion dollars (999 trillion won) in assets and employs more than 700 professionals at over 21 global offices worldwide.
The signing ceremony was attended by Seongju Kim, Chairman of the National Pension Service, and Tobias Pross, CEO of Allianz Global Investors.
Through this agreement, the two organizations plan to: ▲ systematically share investment-related knowledge and management experience across all asset classes; ▲ discuss mid- to long-term strategies for global financial markets and the macroeconomic environment; ▲ promote training, education, and talent exchange programs to enhance fund management capabilities; ▲ and gradually pursue other mutually agreed-upon strategic cooperation activities.
Tobias Pross, CEO of AllianzGI, commented, "This partnership is meaningful as it institutionalizes a long-term cooperative relationship between both parties. Going forward, we will actively support the National Pension Service in strengthening its investment capabilities not only through joint research and knowledge sharing but also through training and education programs."

Following the signing ceremony, the opening ceremony for AllianzGI's Jeonju office was also held near the National Pension Service headquarters (Manseong-dong, Jeonju). The Jeonju office will serve as a hub for ongoing communication and practical collaboration between the two organizations, supporting the operation of training and education programs and expanding strategic exchanges. AllianzGI plans to hire local talent from the Jeonbuk region as dedicated permanent staff for the office.
In his welcoming remarks, Seongju Kim, Chairman of the National Pension Service, said, "With this agreement as a starting point, we will transform Jeonju into a living bridge directly linking it to the global asset management network."
Chairman Kim is working to transform Jeonju into a financial hub by attracting domestic and international banks, insurance companies, and asset managers to the city. Previously, KB Financial Group, Shinhan Financial Group, and Woori Financial Group all decided to open offices in Jeonju.
As of the end of last year, the National Pension Service had 1,458 trillion won in fund reserves, making it one of the largest institutional investors not only in Korea but also globally.
In January, Chairman Kim held the first meeting with asset management firms that had established offices in Jeonju at the National Pension Service headquarters in Jeonbuk Innovation City. At the meeting, he said, "We will make it clear to domestic and global asset management firms that working with the National Pension Service presents greater opportunities."
