Prosecution Summons Kyung Kim for First Questioning After Referral in '100 Million Won Nomination Bribe' Case
Sunwoo Kang to Be Summoned on March 16
On March 13, independent assembly member Sunwoo Kang and former Seoul city council member Kyung Kim, both of whom have been detained on charges of exchanging a "nomination bribe" worth 100 million won ahead of the 2022 local elections, were summoned by prosecutors. This marks their first interrogation since being handed over to the prosecution on March 11.

The two are accused of meeting at a hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in January 2022—five months before the local elections—and exchanging 100 million won. At that time, assembly member Kang was affiliated with the Democratic Party of Korea. Later, former council member Kim was nominated as the sole Democratic Party candidate for the Seoul City Council in Gangseo-gu, Kang’s constituency, and was subsequently elected.
The prosecution is expected to focus its investigation on the circumstances under which the money was handed over and the specific details of the nomination solicitation involving former council member Kim.
Earlier, on March 3, the court issued arrest warrants for both individuals, citing concerns over possible destruction of evidence. They are currently being held at the Seoul Detention Center.
