Special Act on Investment in the United States Passes Plenary Session on the 12th
Lee Calls Bipartisan Agreement a "Grand and Statesmanlike Decision"
President Lee Jae-myung expressed his gratitude to the National Assembly and the People Power Party on the 12th for the bipartisan agreement on the so-called "Special Act on Investment in the United States."
On the same day, President Lee wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account, "The Special Act on the Operation and Management of Strategic Investments between the Republic of Korea and the United States (the Special Act on Investment in the United States) has passed the plenary session of the National Assembly," adding, "This is a meaningful example showing that there are no divisions between the parties when it comes to national challenges. I extend my deep gratitude to the National Assembly for making a far-sighted decision for our economy and security."

View original imagePresident Lee further stated, "With the passage of the special act, an institutional and legal foundation has been established for implementing the Korea-US tariff agreement," emphasizing, "Going forward, the two countries will build an even closer and stronger cooperative framework in strategic industries, including shipbuilding and energy."
President Lee also commented, "Amid the recent crisis in the Middle East, uncertainties in the international situation and the global economic environment are growing," and added, "I hope the passage of this special act will help ease the crises faced by our companies and serve as an opportunity to encourage more active investment and cooperation."
Additionally, President Lee pledged, "The government will also diligently prepare for the implementation of the special act and carry out follow-up measures without delay," and vowed, "We will do our utmost to ensure that strategic investments contribute not only to the economic development of both Korea and the United States but also to the stability of supply chains and the enhancement of national security interests."

Meanwhile, at the Chief Presidential Secretary Meeting presided over by President Lee on the same day, he reiterated his appreciation, saying, "I would like to once again thank the opposition parties, including the People Power Party," and added, "Despite various difficulties, I am grateful for your cooperation in ensuring that there are no issues in our external relations."
