"Not Exactly Cheap in Chungju"… Kim Seontae of '100 Million Won Ad Rumor' Secures Office
"100 Million Won Per Advertisement" Document Goes Viral
Revealing the 500/65 Office
Kim Seontae, the former "Chungju Man," who has been rumored to command up to 100 million won per advertisement, revealed the office he rented for 650,000 won per month.
On March 11, Kim introduced the office he secured in the Chungju area through a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, "Kim Seontae."
He said, "A monthly rent of 650,000 won isn’t exactly cheap in Chungju. I’m not belittling Chungju, but it really isn’t considered cheap." He added, "The office gets a lot of sunlight and I like the condition. I originally considered a studio, but I thought it would be better to have a separated space in case things go well and I need to hire staff, so I decided on this office."
He went on to say, "In a way, this is a gamble," and added, "I am a bit worried about whether I’ll be able to pay it off with what I earn. It feels like I’m borrowing from my future."
Kim continued, "I don’t think it’s right to receive support for office supplies or equipment. Revealing the office might be interpreted as a request to fill up my fridge, but that’s not the case. I plan to keep the office minimal, with almost no possessions, and I don’t need any gifts." He laughed, adding, "If anything, I’d prefer advertisements over gifts."
As an official at Chungju City Hall in North Chungcheong Province, Kim led "ChungTV" and attracted nearly 1 million subscribers to the public institution’s YouTube channel, a rare feat. On February 13, he submitted his resignation. His personal YouTube channel surpassed 1 million subscribers just two days after its launch, and the first video posted on March 3 has recorded about 9 million views as of eight days later.
"100 Million Won per Advertisement"... Former Chungju Man's YouTube Advertising Rate Leaked?
Meanwhile, a document detailing Kim Seontae’s advertising rates has spread online, drawing significant attention. Some reports indicate that the price for a single advertising content can reach up to 100 million won, attracting the interest of the industry. However, it remains unconfirmed whether the document actually originated from Kim Seontae’s side.
Recently, a document titled "Kim Seontae YouTube Channel Introduction" has rapidly circulated across various social networking services (SNS). The document reportedly specifies detailed rates for advertising and licensing collaborations on Kim Seontae’s channel.
According to the document, the advertising collaboration rates are as follows: 100 million won for a branded content and highlight shorts package, 80 million won for branded content, 50 million won for stand-alone shorts content, and 30 million won for simple product placement (PPL).
The document also states that these prices are based on contracts signed within one month, and notes that the rates may change depending on the timing of the contract or changes in subscriber numbers. This suggests that if the channel continues to grow and remain a trending topic, advertising rates could rise even further in the future.
